Music of the Falling Leaves

It’s amazing to me how easily music can bring back memories. How it can remind us of places, experiences and so many other things. I have always found it the perfect way to help with writing. It creates an atmosphere and brings back pictures to your mind.

For me, this beautiful song brings back cherished childhood memories of riding through the Blue Ridge Mountains. I grew up in North Carolina and every autumn we would take a drive along the Blue Ridge Parkway to see the beautiful leaves changing. We always played this song and it always seemed like the perfect soundtrack for the falling leaves.

What are some of your music memories?

  1. That’s very pretty! I have a number of music memories, just because my brain has this way of connecting songs I listen to at a particular moment with events that are going on in my life. A bittersweet example: My paternal grandmother passed away the day after I bought Within Temptation’s Silent Force album. She had been sick for a few months, and we knew it was only a matter of time. So when the song “Memories” played, I couldn’t help but cry, because that song is all about remembering loved ones who have passed on and finding comfort in your memories of them. Now I think of Memere whenever I hear that song, and the album as a whole helped pull me through that very tough summer.

    1. I’m glad you liked it, Sara! What a beautiful music memory and a special way to remember your grandmother 🙂 It’s so neat how our brains can connect songs to memories and how that can make us feel closer together even when we are apart.
