“Spring was moving in the air above and in the earth below and around him, penetrating even his dark and lowly little house with its spirit of divine discontent and longing.”
― Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows

Writers and tea go together like bread and butter. Or maybe cream and sugar?
Famous authors down through the ages have had their favorite drink to keep their imaginations fueled as they wrote. Everything from beer and wine, to lemonade and cocktails found their into the heart of writers and sometimes into their writing.

Some times all I need is a picture to help my imagination run wild…

(So, this is going to be a little talk to myself in blog format. You’re welcome to listen in if you want too, though I warn you that it might get a little interesting! 🙂 )
When you finish writing one book, when the research is done and the edits are complete, what do you do? Yes, publishing it might be the obvious next step. But, as I heard one great author say, take a deep breath, stand up, sit down again, take another deep breath and start another book. I am paraphrasing of course, but it really stuck with me. I think that that statement goes more to the heart of what it means to be a writer.

There are many, many things that can be an inspiration to a writer or an author. And I am sure there are as many things out there that can inspire as there are people who write!
But I have often thought that nature and the physical world around us is a source of forgotten inspiration.
“I declare after all there is no enjoyment like reading! How much sooner one tires of any thing than of a book! — When I have a house of my own, I shall be miserable if I have not an excellent library.”
― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

Wow, I can’t believe we are almost 2 weeks into the New Year!
I didn’t mean to fall off of the face of the blog-sphere for that long, but between the holidays, a New Year, getting together with friends and family, juggling work and other commitments, I got to the first week of January feeling like I needed a little vacation from all the joy of the season! Or maybe just to go and take a nap. 🙂
