Lately, I have thinking about how fun it would be to have a personal writer’s retreat. In the autumn, I always get the desire to travel and see new places. I have been imagining how wonderful it would be to have a cozy writing retreat to travel to and not only explore new places, but work on one of my writing projects too.
So, if I had a personal writer’s retreat to go to this is what I would have –
First, it would be in a gorgeous old house with amazing views.
Any writer should also be a reader. I have been for a long time and though I have read hundreds of books, only a few have become truly my favorites. A lot of them are books that I read when I was younger and that left a deep impression on me. Everyone remembers the first time they visited the Kansas prairie of the Little House books or the fantastic realm of Narnia.
One of those books for me was undoubtedly, Robin Hood.

Writing my very own novel has always been a dream of mine. I actually finished the first draft of my first novel in 2016. I have only taken a peek or two at it since then though I eventually plan to dig into it deeper and refine it more. I am now in the midst of banging out the words of my second novel set in a totally different time period and place.
But, I learned some very valuable lessons from writing my first novel that helped give me the confidence to even attempt a second try at another story idea. I want to share them with you (in convenient bullet form of course!)

Because just like paper and its amazing history, pens and the tools we write with have a history all their own just as fascinating!
I don’t often have time to re-read books these days. There are so many books in my TBR pile still and I feel like I am discovering new things to read everyday! But, every once in a while I love to pick up one of my old favorites and peruse the pages again. There is comfort in knowing how the story ends. And re-reading books always reminds me of the first time I read it and why I fell in love with it in the first place.
But, do you know how hard it is to pick some of your favorite books?! It’s like picking your favorite ice cream or your favorite animal or your favorite pillow! Can’t I just love them all? Choosing is too hard. 🙂
